________________________________
The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait wishes to thank our kababayan who have been giving their comments on the process of passport application and renewal under the “new normal.” The Embassy implemented this new process out of necessity, due to the continued threat of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) to the lives of Filipinos in Kuwait.
As previously requested in our public advisory on the online appointment system last 30 May 2020, the Embassy reiterates its appeal for the Filipino community’s understanding that only a limited number of applications can be accommodated every day. Please understand that while passport application and renewal have resumed, the threat of COVID-19 infection has not gone away. Controlling the number of applicants at the Embassy will ensure that physical distancing measures will be enforced effectively.
The Embassy also appeals for everyone’s understanding that applicants are only accommodated outside the Embassy. This is to further reduce, if not eliminate, the risk of the COVID-19’s spread inside the Embassy. The office hours of 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. from Sundays to Thursdays are also being implemented temporarily in light of the ongoing nationwide curfew, and in compliance with the Kuwaiti government’s advice for the reduction of any on-site work.
If one Embassy employee contracts the COVID-19, the Embassy will automatically be closed for 14 days as all Embassy personnel will have to undergo the mandatory quarantine for those who have close contact with our employee. One Philippine Consulate General in North America suspended their operations for 14 days after one of their employees tested positive for the COVID-19. THE EMBASSY DOES NOT WANT TO SUSPEND ITS OPERATIONS FOR ANOTHER TWO WEEKS IF ONE OF ITS EMPLOYEES GETS THE COVID-19.
The Embassy assures the Filipino community that it is trying its best to improve its processes and increase its capacity to accept more passport applicants (i.e. increase more slots in its online appointment system), with the safety and health of the public as its top priority.
