Based on the friendly relations between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of the Philippines, and the sincere desire of both sides to strengthen bilateral working relations between the two countries, a bilateral meeting was held yesterday afternoon, corresponding to June 23, 2024, at Al-Seif Palace, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, First Vice President The Cabinet, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of the Interior, and the Philippine side was represented by Mr. Bernard Olalia, Undersecretary of the Department of Migrant Workers of the Republic of the Philippines, the two sides finally resolved the issue of resuming the recruitment of Filipino workers to the State of Kuwait, and after extensive discussion, the following was basically agreed upon:
 
A - Lifting the ban imposed by the Kuwaiti side, and allowing the issuance of all entry visas and work visas to Filipino nationalities;
B - Allowing the recruitment of domestic workers who have previously worked abroad and have work experience abroad.
 
The two sides agreed to establish a Joint Technical Working Group composed of the competent authorities in both countries, which will meet periodically to address issues related to employment and address all concerns that may arise in the future.
 
In resolving the issues before the Joint Technical Working Group, the two governments affirm their commitment to the approach and legal frameworks in accordance with the “Domestic Workers Employment Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the State of Kuwait” signed in 2018.
