2 December 2020 – More than two months since his nomination by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, newly designated Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Mohd. Noordin Pendosina N. Lomondot presented his open Letter of Credence to Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs and Acting Minister of Information Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah on 1 December 2020 at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador-designate Lomondot conveyed to Sheikh Dr. Ahmed the greetings and best wishes of President Duterte, and expressed his desire to further the cooperation between the Philippines and Kuwait and enhance the friendly ties that bind the two nations. For his part, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister wished the Ambassador-designate success in his mission.

Sheikh Dr. Ahmed likewise expressed the Kuwaiti government’s commitment to advance Philippine-Kuwaiti bilateral relations, and the continued support of the country’s legal system for Kuwaitis and expatriates alike. He also extended his deepest condolences for Filipino deaths due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the onslaught of recent typhoons in the country.

During the presentation of credentials, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Amb. Khaled Suleiman Al-Jarallah, Assistant Foreign Minister for Protocol Affairs Amb. Dhari Ajran Al-Ajran, Assistant Foreign Minister for the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Amb. Saleh Salem Al-Loughani, and other senior officials.

The presentation of credentials to Sheikh Dr. Ahmed is part of the formal process by the Kuwaiti government to accredit Ambassador-designate Lomondot as the Philippines’ new top envoy. The said accreditation process ends with the presentation of the Letter of Credence to Kuwait’s Head of State, His Highness The Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Ambassador-designate Lomondot served as the Chargé d'Affaires, ad interim and Consul General of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait until his retirement on 5 September 2020. A career officer of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), his previous foreign assignments include Libya, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Malaysia, Lebanon, and Bangladesh. END
