Mr. MOHD. NOORDIN PENDOSINA N. LOMONDOT
Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. and Consul General of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait
On The 122nd Anniversary Of The Proclamation Of Philippine Independence
I convey my heartfelt greetings of peace, prosperity and good health to all overseas Filipinos in the State of Kuwait.
I join the officers and staff of the Embassy in expressing our profound congratulations to the Filipino community in Kuwait on the momentous occasion of the 122nd Anniversary of the Declaration of the Philippine Independence on 12 June 2020.
Our Independence Day celebration this year coincides with the occurrence of COVID-19 pandemic, which spreads to all countries around the world, including the Philippines and Kuwait. However, despite the pandemic, the Filipinos around the world, including us, remain strong and determined to continue performing their functions as world-class foreign workers overseas.
The theme of our Independence Day celebration this year is "Kalayaan 2020: Towards a Free, United and Safe Nation," which guide us in our endeavor to work together, hand in hand, to stop the COVID-19 pandemic from further destroying the lives of our countrymen. In unity, we can defeat our unseen enemy, the COVID-19.
I encourage all overseas Filipinos in Kuwait to stand firmly united in assisting our Kababayans, who died due to COVID-19, especially our medical workers who worked as frontliners in different hospitals in Kuwait.
We must continue our tremendous struggle and perseverance to contain and defeat the pandemic. Let’s contribute our strength—physical, mental and spiritual— to the efforts of our government to free our Motherland not only from COVID-19 pandemic, but also from poverty that continues to ravage the economic situation of the majority of the Filipino people.
I am confident that we will ultimately defeat the COVID pandemic and, in unity, we can free end save our country from the challenges of this pandemic.
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas. Mabuhay tayong lahat.
State of Kuwait, 12 June 2020
