Officials and employees of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, led by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. and Consul General Mohd. Noordin Pendosina N. Lomondot, join the “18-Day Campaign To End Violence Against Women (VAW)” from 25 November to 12 December 2019 by wearing orange on 1 December 2019. The Embassy’s attached agencies—the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Social Security System, and the Pag-IBIG Fund—also took part in the campaign.
As part of its information and education drive to end VAW within the Filipino community in Kuwait, the Embassy is giving out flyers on the different forms of violence against women and girls, and is playing on a loop videos from the Philippine Commission on Women at the Embassy’s consular section.
The 18-Day Campaign supports the Philippine government’s goal of protecting the human rights of women and girls by upholding its commitment to address all forms of gender-based violence. December 12 is a historic date globally since it marks the signing in the year 2000 of the United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, which the Philippines ratified in 2002.
